STDs con have serious consequense, including death. Untreated gonorrhea and  and chlamydi can cause pelvic inflammatory disease, or PID, in women. This disease can cause infertility or chronic pain. it also cause ectopic pregnancyand later the death of the mother. Cervical cancer is markedly associated with some types of HPV infection. This cancer is common and has high mortality  retes in many developing countries, where early detection programs for this disease are limited
