Scientists say that a small cup of DNA could store 100 million hours of video.
Scientists from the European Institute of Bioinformatics (IEB), based in England, demonstrated that it is possible to save texts, images and sounds in DNA molecules.
The researchers transcribed a megabyte of data - including Shakespeare's complete sonnets and excerpts from Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech - into DNA language.
Later, a laboratory in California transformed that information into DNA molecules and sent them back to Europe by mail.
When the IEB researchers read the DNA information and passed it back to the computer, they were able to retrieve it without any error.
