Cali is the capitol from Valle del Cauca department, it was founded in 1536 by Sebastian de Belalcazar, 3 years later than from Cartagena(1533) de Indias and two years earlier than from Santa fe de Bogota.(1538). The ancients from this region were the named Calimas. Those conquerors from Peru were attracted by a particular region named El Dorado, The last chief whom rebelled then was cacique Petecuy, he brought together people from different tribes, anyway he was defeated one Tuesday from Holy week in 1536, so few months later Sebastian de Belalcazar founded Cali, the 25th of July in 1536. Nowadays, is considered by others the salsa world capitol, because from some years ago the people from this city took for itself this Centro American musical rhythm. Besides is among the most important cities from Colombia related to economical development. This city has more than 2 million people. This city also has been outstanding at sports since about 1970 until now
