The projections of international financing agencies give Panama a sustained growth of 6% a year over the next five years, taking into account the contribution that the expanded channel will give to the national economy, despite the difficult environment in Latin America. The channel includes in its projection the increase in transits of container ships, and of liquefied natural gas, which will occur mainly between developed countries, while the region comes out of the slowdown that has been facing for two years, mainly affected by the fall of Chinese imports. It also provides ships to carry 8 000 cars, 2 000 more than at present.
