How can a shortage of nutrients harm organisms in an ecosystem? How can an excess of nutrients harm organisms in an ecosystem? Give an example of each scenario to support your answers.

ANSWER:

The shortage of nutrients produces a malfunction in the metabolism and organisms of animals and plants. We have as an example the common animals, if these do not consume the necessary nutrients they have flaws and in other cases they suffer diseases.

On the other hand the excess is also counterproductive since it can generate the excess of some materials that are harmful. For example, if some plants consume too much water and nutrients they die from drowning and excess.
