¿Este cuento está en pasado simple?
"Once upon a time there was a famous farmer in the place for being a very smart and witty boy. So shocking was that one day he managed to outwit a devil.
One day, while he was working the land, the young farmer found himself an imp sitting on some embers.
- What are you doing there? Are you resting on the fire? - he asked curiously.
- Not exactly - the devil replied with a certain chulería - Actually, under this fire I have hidden a great treasure. I have a chest full of jewels and precious stones and I don't want anyone to discover them.
- A treasure? - The farmer opened his eyes wide - Then it is mine, because this land belongs to me and, everything here is my property.
The little demon was stunned by the ease that this young man had. He was not scared even by a devil! As he knew that deep down the boy was right, he proposed an agreement.
- Yours will be the treasure, but on the condition that you give me half of your harvest for two years. Where I live there are neither vegetables nor vegetables and the truth is that I am looking forward to getting a good binge on them because I love them.
The young man, who won no one smart, accepted the deal but put a condition.
- Sounds good to me, but so that later there are no fights, you will keep what grows from the ground up and me with what grows from the ground down.
The imp accepted and signed the agreement with a handshake. Later, each one went to his own. The farmer planted beets, which as we all know, is a root, and when the time came for the harvest, the devil appeared there.
- I come to look for my part - he said to the boy, that sweaty collected hundreds of beets from the earth.
- Oh no, I can't give you anything! We agreed that you would take what grew from the earth upwards and this year I have only planted beets, which as you are seeing yourself, are born and grow down, inside the earth.
The devil got angry and wanted to change the terms of the agreement.
- It's okay! - he growled - Next time it will be the other way around: it will be you who stays with what sprouts on the earth and I with what grows down.
And with that said, he left grumbling. After a while the farmer returned to the task of sowing and this time he changed beets for wheat seeds. Months later, it was time to collect the grain of the golden spikes. When the devil reappeared to take his own, he saw that the farmer had given it back to him with cheese.
- Where is my share of the harvest?
- This time I have planted wheat, so everything will be for me - said the boy - As you can see, wheat grows on the ground, upwards, so get away because I will not give you anything at all.
The devil went into anger and kicked the floor foaming at the mouth, but he had to keep his word because a deal is a deal and can never be broken. He went away cursing and the smart farmer, dying of laughter, went to look for his treasure"
