Vasili Kandinsky (1866 - 1944) was a Russian painter, precursor of abstraction in painting and also an art theorist. It is considered that with him also begins the lyrical abstraction and expressionism.

Kandisky left Germany at 1914 and stablished in France when the I World War started in Europe and confronted Russia against Germany and among the main countries of the continent.

The art style and artist who inpired Kandinsky were the Impressionism and one of its main creators, the French painter Oscar-Claude Monet (1840 - 1926).

The main principles of Impressionism are that it tries to capture the ligth and its moment in the canvas (or visual "impression") leaving in the background what projected it.
