It's easy to think that cooking food is a pretty mundane exercise. For some it is a pleasure, for others a chore.

But why do we do it? Why don't we eat our food raw, like all other animals, including chimpanzees, our closest relatives?

Several experts have studied the case and have reached conclusions: cooking increased the size of our brain, ensured the survival of the species, made us more sociable, accelerated the creation of communities, we used migration to other territories and gave us an identity cultural.
