It can be said that among the many achievements of the Persian Empire, perhaps arguably their greatest was in the creation of the Empire itself. At the peak of supremacy, this Empire, which is reputed to have been built on tolerance stretched from the Aegean to the Caspian Seas.

The Persians were a people of Indo-European origin of the Indo-Iranian branch that eventually merging with the peoples they conquered the Achaemenid era. It originated as a group of nomadic tribes whose original location lay north of the plateau of Iran. Around 1400 a. C., some of these tribes, ancestors of the historical Persian, moved to the south of Iran.
The first rule [edit]
Before the rise of the Persian nation, the area of the Middle East was being buffeted by wars. The focus of these wars was the aggressor and militaristic state of Assyria. The Assyrians constantly launched campaigns against the peoples around them, looting, killing and deporting making populations or their ruling classes at least. This caused great human and economic deterioration throughout the area, even in Assyria, which became depopulated due to the severe casualties suffered in wars. Finally Assyria began to weaken, their enemies were united in a grand coalition, the defeated and by the year 610. C. the Assyrians had been completely subdued. The new situation showed four new axes of power: in today's Iran and western Turkey, the Medes; in Mesopotamia, Syria and Palestine the Neo-Babylonian; in North Africa the Egyptians, who were trying to extend their influence to Palestine and Syria; and in the area of Turkey, different states, with Greek influences. These states encompassed diverse populations, not all subservient to the new order. [Citation needed] He continued having wars, but not as bloody as the Assyrian campaigns. The biggest problem was that, despite having a nominal government, were disorganized. Many of these governments were intolerant and charged excessive taxes. The Persians were a core identity of peoples who lived in southern Iran today, being under the government of the Medes, but with a certain degree of self-government.
