By deploying a total of 69 peacekeeping and observation missions to various conflict zones around the world over the past 10 decades, the United Nations has been able to restore calm, allowing many countries to recover from situations of conflict. There are currently 16 peacekeeping operations deployed in different parts of the world, involving 125,000 brave men and women from 120 countries willing to venture where others are unable or unwilling to go.
