Explicación:In recent weeks, countless news items, informative notes, reports from official institutions and scientific articles have been published on the current COVID-19 pandemic and its cause, the coronavirus 2019. At the same time, linguists, translators and experts in the field have been publishing articles with writing tips for those who write or translate on this topic.
From them I have extracted terms in English and Spanish and I have taken note of the suggestions to apply them in my work, reaching more than 440 entries in this first version of the glossary, including slogans and abbreviations, both informative and specialized. As I collect new terms related to COVID-19 I will be posting them on this blog.
The glossary that I have compiled is very exhaustive and covers practically all the vocabulary that is being used these days in the oral and written media, so it can be useful for translators, interpreters, editors and journalists.
From this blog I want to thank all health personnel, operators of 112 and other telephone assistance numbers, pharmacists, personnel of nursing homes, police and soldiers, employees of food stores, public transport personnel, transporters, farmers , ranchers, fishermen and all those who are carrying out basic activities for the population. And to all those who comply with the confinement rules to avoid further contagion.
My thoughts are with those who have passed away, with their families and loved ones, with those who are hospitalized, and with all those who suffer from this pandemic.
My admiration and respect for those who have lost their life or who risk it daily to save or protect the lives of others.
