Maricruz Olivares (Ana Brenda Contreras) is a beautiful, humble and illiterate young woman, who lives with Don Ramiro (Ignacio López Tarso), her maternal grandfather and with Soledad "Solita" (Gaby Mellado), her deaf sister, whom Ramiro found abandoned being baby. The young woman is unaware that her real name is María Alejandra Mendoza Olivares and that she is the daughter of Alejandro Mendoza (César Évora), a millionaire with noble sentiments.
On the other hand, we have the brothers Miguel and Octavio Narváez, whose ranch is mortgaged because of Miguel's mismanagement (René Strickler). Octavio (Daniel Arenas) arrives at the ranch after losing his job to try to sell the land or at least the part that corresponds by right to the will of his parents, Miguel does not want to sell his part because without the ranch his wife Lucia de Narváez (Elizabeth Álvarez) and he would be left homeless. When Octavio arrives at the ranch, he discovers Eusebio (Carlos Cámara Jr.), his foreman, mistreating Maricruz, as she tried to steal fruits from the farm. Octavio, faced with the situation, defends and protects Maricruz. From that day on, Octavio has been captivated by her beauty. The young man is also enraged when he discovers the evil with which Lucía, his sister-in-law, treats Maricruz, since she treated her from the lowest due to their social differences. So to teach him a lesson he decides to marry the humble young woman. Esther (Elizabeth Valdez), Lucia's cousin, helps her to unhinge Maricruz by giving her support by treating her badly.
