HBO is an American television network. It was formed on November 8, 1972. It was later bought by Time Warner Cable in 1989. HBO is an abbreviation for Home Box Office. Box Office refers to the place where tickets are sold at the movie theater. So, with HBO it's as if you have got your own movie theater at home. That means that if you're feeling too lazy to check what's on TV, you can probably find something interesting on HBO.

HBO shows TV series, movies, sports and there is even an HBO On Demand channel, which means viewers can get any HBO film or series whenever they want. Over 50 countries are using HBO content and over 150 countries worldwide are broadcasting HBO shows, movies and sports.

HBO is especially popular for its TV series. There are many HBO series that were and still are very popular. Some of HBO's most famous series are Sex and the City, Six Feet Under, and The Sopranos.

There are also shows that are widely popular now including Game of Thrones, True Blood, The Wire, Flight of the Conchords, and Curb Your Enthusiasm. These are shows that should definitely be given a chance.

HBO really is creating great television and as it is so popular, it's easy to see that it will be around for a long time.
