One of them is the economic power of young people. They are the main consumers of certain products. Their economic power has become more evident because they spend money on very striking items, and their consumption tends to be concentrated in certain sectors of the market.
- The demands of young people have become important within society and their activities are disseminated by the mass media: the press, the radio and the T.V. They tend to create mythologies of youth. They disseminate the image of the "typical young man" and those who do not conform to it begin to notice that it is as if something was missing.
Adults can react to this with a mixture of daze, disdain or envy.
- Another reason for this boom is due to the acceleration of psychophysical development. Girls become women before, boys reach physical maturity before. Sexual, religious, political, social, family problems ..., etc., also appear earlier than in previous historical eras.
- Young people are increasingly able to adapt to the world they live in, today they read more, they study more than in the times of our parents. The number of young people who attend schools, colleges, institutes, technical schools, arts and crafts centers, universities ... etc. is evident. It creates a great sense of community and a new sensibility to feel social injustice.
- The young people are in more advantageous conditions than the mature or old man who have already made their lives. Rapid change, progress and novelties are assimilated sooner by young people.
- The same increase in the youth population - in our country there are 13 million people under 25, or almost 45% of the total population - leads to problems of lack of jobs, lack of space in schools and universities and This sometimes creates problems and aggressive attitudes.
- Along with this, we must highlight the important role that women have in social and cultural life. From being only a girlfriend, a wife, she has become a companion, friend and member of the same work or study team. In schools, factories, offices, shops, universities ... women are often struggling to be equal to men, having the same role, similar needs and the same goals as men.
There is a greater relationship between boys and girls, and this makes these relationships occur in a climate of greater naturalness and exempt from the prejudices and taboos of other times.
All these factors and many others must be taken into account to know and understand young people. Hence, only a multi-dimensional approach is valid for a more accurate knowledge of how young people are today.
