The Conservative Republic was a period in the history of Chile that lasted between 1831 and 1861, characterized by the hegemony of the Conservative Party , whose supporters were called " hairdressers ." After defeating the Liberal Party, whose members were nicknamed " pipiolos, " at the Battle of Lircay on April 17 , 1830 , it was formally consolidated in 1831 with the election of General José Joaquín Prieto as President of Chile .

All the formally elected presidents of this time were: José Joaquín Prieto (1831-1841), Manuel Bulnes (1841-1851), Manuel Montt (1851-1861) and the provisional governments of José Tomás Ovalle (1830-1831) and the brief accidental internship of Fernando Errázuriz Aldunate (1831).
