2 Read the blog entry by a mother of two teenagers.
Every morning when I get up, I hear pop music from my children's rooms. At breakfast, I ask
daughter Alyssa how she is, but she doesn't hear me She's busy with her mobile phone. She always sends
text messages to her friends during breakfast. My 13-year-old son Ashley goes online to check his
e-mails. After breakfast, I take the children to school by car. I ask what they want for supper, but they
can't hear me because the music from their iPods is very loud.
when they come home from school the children close their bedroom doors and watch films on this
computers. I want them to do their homework but they want to play with their computers and mobile
phones, Alyssa and Ashley never talk these days. That isn't because they don't like each other. It's
because they chat online - even when they're in the same house! They tell me they've got new friends
but they're not real friends. They're online friends. My children don't read books or magazines either
because they read stories on their electronic books. Sometimes, I just want my kids to turn off their
phones, computers, electronic books and iPods. I hate technology!
