I was bored the other day so I decided (go) for a walk in the countryside to do some exercise and take some photos to put on the walls of my new apartment. I've just moved in and I haven't got very many pictures to decorate with. I have always enjoyed (take) photos and people tell me that I've got 'a good eye' considering I've never officially learnt about how (compose) a picture or even what makes a good subject for a photo.
While I was walking, I saw a beautiful bird and so I decided (follow) it, hoping (take) a photo of it sitting on a fence. I don't know very much about birds, but this one didn't seem to be like any of the typical birds I see when I'm walking. It was very brightly colored and quite large.
As I got closer, I realized that it was a parrot. It was happily sitting on top of a gate and didn't mind me (approach) it. Just as I finished (focus) the camera, I heard a voice behind me, calling the word 'Capatin!' very loudly. I stopped (look) through the camera lens and turned around to see a middle-aged woman and a young child coming towards me.
The woman explained that the bird was their pet but that it didn't like its new cage and wanted (escape) all the time. They needed (catch) the bird because it couldn't survive in the wild, and although they didn't mind it (fly) around the house during the day, they had to put it in its cage at night. The bird didn't want (sleep) in it, however and it constantly tried (get away) . Today was the first day that it had flown so far away.
They caught the bird by offering it some fruit. It didn't look very happy in the travel cage they had. Before they got in their car I showed them the photo I had taken of Captain and promised (send) them a copy if they gave me their email address.

Estaba aburrida el otro día así que decidí (ir) a dar un paseo por el campo para hacer un poco de ejercicio y tomar algunas fotos para poner en las paredes de mi nuevo departamento. A medida que me acercaba, me di cuenta de que era un loro. Estaba felizmente sentado encima de una puerta y no le importó que me acercara. Justo cuando terminé (enfocar) la cámara, escuché una voz detrás de mí, gritando la palabra '¡Capatín!' Muy ruidoso. Me detuve (miré) a través de la lente de la cámara y me di la vuelta para ver a una mujer de mediana edad y un niño pequeño que venían hacia mí.
La mujer explicó que el pájaro era su mascota pero que no le gustaba su nueva jaula y quería (escapar) todo el tiempo. Necesitaban (atrapar) al pájaro porque no podía sobrevivir en la naturaleza, y aunque no les importaba que (volara) alrededor de la casa durante el día, tenían que ponerlo en su jaula por la noche. Sin embargo, el pájaro no quería (dormir) en él y constantemente intentaba (escapar). Hoy era el primer día que había volado tan lejos.
Atraparon al pájaro ofreciéndole un poco de fruta. No se veía muy feliz en la jaula de viaje que tenían. Antes de que subieran a su automóvil, les mostré la foto que le había tomado al Capitán y les prometí (enviarles) una copia si me daban su dirección de correo electrónico.
