¿Para qué sirven? ¿Cómo se forman? Esta es la explicación.
Comparatives: sirven para comparar un objeto/animal/persona con otro/a. Se forman the 3 maneras:
- (Más ... que) Añadiendo -er al final del adjetivo si este tiene 1 o 2 sílabas solamente (aunque hay excepciones).
- (Más ... que) Añadiendo more delante del adjetivo si este tiene más de 2 sílabas o (menos ... que) añadiendo less delante de cualquier adjetivo.
- Algunos adjetivos son irregulares y no tienen una norma para formarlos: good - better, bad - worse...
En todos los casos debemos añadir detrás del adjetivo la preposición than.
Superlatives: sirven para nombrar el objeto/animal/persona que supera al resto en ser de alguna manera o para decir que el resto supera a ese objeto/animal/persona. Se forma:
- Añadiendo la terminación -est detrás de los adjetivos de 1 o 2 sílabas (con excepciones).
- Añadiendo the most (el más) delante de un adjetivo que tiene más de 2 sílabas o añadiendo the least (el menos) delante de cualquier adjetivo.
- Algunos adjetivos son irregulares: good - the best, bad - the worst...
