PAST PERFECT & PAST SIMPLE I. Put the verbs in brackets into Past Perfect or Past Simple. finished took went After John and Ted (finish) their breakfast, they (take) their bags and (go) to the river to fish. By 4 o'clock they (not/get) any fish, so they decided to go home. Boys (not/like) fishing at all but they (promise) their mother to bring fish for dinner, so Ted (look) for a shop where they could buy some but the shops (already/close) by that time. When they (arrive) home, they (tell) their mother that they (catch) the biggest fish they (ever/see) but it (escape).​

After John and Ted finished their breakfast, they took their bags and went to fish. By 4 o'clock they haven't got any fish, so they decided to go home. Boys didn't like fishing at all but they promised their mother to bring fish for dinner, so Ted looked for a shop where they could buy some but the shops have already closed by that time. When they arrived home, they told their mother that they have caught the biggest fish they have ever seen but it escaped.
