Parte 2
The Clombian Pacific.
The Pacific region is one of the six natural regions of
Colombia. It covers almost the entire department of Chocó, and the coastal areas of the
departments of Valle del Cauca, Cauca and Nariño.
It is located in the western fringe of the country, bordering to the north with Panama, to the
northeast with the Caribbean region, to the east with the Western mountain range that
separates it from the Andean region, to the south with Ecuador and to the west with the
Pacific Ocean, from where it takes its name. It is part of the biogeographical Chocó and is
divided into two large areas marked by Cape Corrientes. The main cities are Buenaventura,
Tumaco and Quibdó. Tumaco-La Tolita culture developed there.
