month. The traditional story of this festival is that two gods named Orihime and
Hikoboshi fell in love and can only meet once a year. They are represented by
the stars Vega and Altair. The streets are adorned with colorful streamers that
make the buildings look like trees in a forest. Children act
out plays about the legend. You can write your wishes on
strips of paper and hang them on decorated bamboo
branches. They say that these wishes can come true.
