Anabel was sitting at the table, with her parents, enjoying the wonderful breakfast they had prepared.

"It's all great!" Anabel exclaimed.

The same scene was repeated at lunchtime and at dinner time. Anabel always liked everything her parents cooked. Or so they believed. Because when they weren't looking, she, Anabel, would put part of what was on the plate in a bag that she hid between her legs.

And if she didn't have a chance, the girl managed to distract her parents from her long enough to put some of the food in the bag.

When she finished eating, the girl took the bag to her room and, as soon as she had a chance, she threw it in the garbage container.

One night, Anabel began to hear mysterious noises in her room. She decided to keep quiet and hide under the covers. She was so afraid that she did not dare not to scream.

The noises continued to be heard, night after night. Something moved, even threw things.

One morning, tired of those noises, Anabel decided that that very night she would find out what was happening. And so, after dinner, the girl took the rolling pin from a kitchen drawer without being seen and she went to bed. She tucked the rolling pin under the pillow and waited.

She had almost fallen asleep by the time she began to hear nightly noises. With fear, but with decision of her, she Anabel got up stealthily, with the roller in her hand. She crouched down, got on all fours, and glided gently across the floor, without making a sound, trying to find the source of that noise.

At first she did not find it easy, because her heart was beating so hard that she was not able to hear anything else.

The girl took two deep breaths to calm herself and then continued to track that unpleasant noise.

And so she came to her desk. She carefully removed the trash can, as it seemed that the sound was coming from there.

-Your! Anabel yelled, as she began to pound with the rolling pin.

The girl made such a scandal that her parents immediately appeared.

-What's happening here? They asked.

-A mouse! The girl screamed.

The parents went to look and found a pile of food scraps behind the trash can.

What is this? They asked.

A The mystery of the nocturnal noises apparently, the mouse had pierced the trash can to pull the bag, make a hole in it and take out the food that Anabel kept there. The girl had not realized it, because she used to take another bag to put all the ones that she was storing to throw everything together with the garbage.

Anabel had to confess that she did not eat everything because she did not always like it or, simply, she could not with everything that was on the plate.

"Why do you do that, instead of saying what's up?" Her mother asked.

"I didn't want to disappoint you," the girl said.

From then on she Anabel she promised not to hide food again and to be clear when something was not to her liking or was too much for her. She learned that it is better to be honest and talk about things, because only then can they improve, even if it is uncomfortable to say it.
