En español solemos usar necesariamente artículos (los, lo, las, etc) pero en inglés THE se usa para cosas específicas, por ejemplo podemos decir "flowers are beautiful (las flores son hermosas)" para decir que las flores <en general> son hermosas, pero en cambio si decimos "the flowers are beautiful" estamos hablando específicamente de un grupo de flores, imagina que tu pareja te regala un ramo de flores, si quieres decirle que ESAS flores que tu pareja te regaló son hermosas usaríamos "the flowers are beautiful" porque el "the" es lo que hace la frase específica.
