Organic matter is produced from the decomposition of crop residue and animal waste material with the help of decomposers such as bacteria and fungi etc. After decomposition, compost is formed containing organic matter which is supplied to the plants. The plants absorb the nutrients present in the compost and increase in size and biomass, after that the animal again feeds on these plants and the cycle continues.
