Matta was a Chilean Surrealist painter. Architect by profession, he began painting in 1930 in Paris. The Second World War and the political disturbances affected him, so his canvas had distressed figures and machineries. His two major works were ‘Chaosmos’ and ‘La Dulce Acqua Vita and La Source du Calme’. Matta was the last Surrealist painter in the XX century.
