Art (from the Latin ars, artis, and this from the Greek τέχνη téchnē) 1 is generally understood as any activity or product carried out with an aesthetic and also communicative purpose, through which ideas, emotions and, in general, a vision are expressed of the world, through various resources, such as plastic, linguistic, sound, body and mixed.2 Art is a component of culture, reflecting in its conception the economic and social bases, and the transmission of ideas and values, inherent in any human culture across space and time. It is usually considered that with the appearance of Homo sapiens, art initially had a ritual, magical or religious function (Palaeolithic art), but that function changed with the evolution of the human being, acquiring an aesthetic component and a social, pedagogical, commercial function. or simply ornamental.
The notion of art continues to be subject to deep disputes, since its definition is open to multiple interpretations, which vary according to the culture, the time, the movement, or the society for which the term has a certain meaning. The word 'art' has a wide meaning, being able to designate any human activity done with care and dedication, or any set of rules necessary to optimally develop an activity: this is how we speak of "culinary art", "medical art", " martial arts ”,“ drag arts ”in fishing, and so on. In that sense, art is synonymous with ability, skill, talent, experience. However, more commonly art is considered as a creative activity of the human being, by which it produces a series of objects (works of art) that are unique, and whose purpose is mainly aesthetic. In this context, art would be the generalization of a concept expressed since ancient times as "fine arts", currently somewhat in disuse and reduced to academic and administrative spheres. Similarly, the use of the word art to designate the performance of other activities has been replaced by terms such as 'technical' or 'craft'. This article deals with art understood as a means of human expression of a creative nature.
