The center of this story is the quest for the Holy Grail, the cup that Jesus drank at the Last Supper, which was said to have magical healing and regenerative powers.
This cup would have been given to Joseph of Arimathea, and his descendants would have taken it to England. Merlin would have asked Arturo to seek the Holy Grail, and he ordered his knights to find him.
The literary king is the son of a king of a small country, Uther Pendragon (in Welsh, 'Uther son of the Dragon'), who desired Igraine, wife of Gorlois, Duke of Tintagel.Uther had the magician Merlin bewitch the woman so that when she entered his chambers, she would believe that it was her husband. Uther, taking advantage of the deception, maintains sexual relations with Igraine, begetting with her a son: Arturo.
When Gorlois dies in combat, the wise men of Cornwall advise Igraine to marry King Uther. At birth, Merlin takes the child and gives it to Sir Hector to care for and raise him as his own son, Kay. Igraine and Gorlois had had Morgause (or Enna), Elaine (or Blasina) and Morgana (or Morgian), Arthur's older sisters.
The two elders married and little Morgana was sent to the Isle of Avalon with Merlin and Lady of the Lake, where she became a priestess, mage, and later the Lady's successor. Other versions say Morgana was locked up in a convent by her new stepfather, Uther.Hence his hatred for Arturo might have been taken away.
At 16, Arturo goes with his stepfather and his son to London, where knights from all over England try to draw a sword from their prison on an anvil that was at the same time prisoner of a piece of marble.

Legend has it that whoever freed her would be King of England and the one in charge of unifying all the kingdoms of the island (Uther had died a few years before). Unsuccessfully, all the knights tried to extract the sword, but it is Arthur, without being a knight yet, who manages to free her, and is revealed his true identity.
With the resistance of all present, he is proclaimed king, nevertheless, little by little all accept it and Arturo swears to impart justice to all the men of England without taking into account his social position. A few days earlier Arturo had slept with a beautiful young woman.
This was none other than Morgan, her half-sister. When they learned what they had done, Morgana fled, had her son secretly and called him Mordred. Mordred would be the end of his father.Shortly afterwards Arthur loses his sword during a battle. The magician Merlin accompanied him to a lake at the bottom of which was a castle in which a sorceress named Nimue, the Lady of the Lake, lived. This woman kept a wonderful sword, Excalibur. Arturo asked for the sword, and Nimue gave it to him.
Merlin observed the magical sheath of Excalibur: "Keep this sheath well," he warned the king, "As long as you carry it you will not lose any blood, but one day a woman will come and trust you and steal it."
Already in his castle of Camelot, Arturo surrounds himself with the most courageous and honest knights: Lanzarote (adopted son of Nimue), Perceval (son of Pellinore), Gawain (son of King Lot and Morgause) and others, Order of the Round Table. Great Britain then enjoys twelve years of peace.
He married Geneva, daughter of the king of Cameliard, and they were happy until Lanzarote arrived at Camelot and he and the queen secretly fell in love.Arthur's knights, searching for the Holy Grail, fought in shady forests and castles against goblins, dragons and other beasts, and returned to Camelot to tell their adventures at the round table where they met.
Arturo was aided by Merlin until it disappeared next to its beloved Nimue and was locked by her in a hollow hill. Arturo's stepsister, Morgana, took advantage of this situation to steal the enchanted sheath of Excalibur and throw it into the sea.
Morgana acted thus with Arturo because of the marriage her brother had forced her to contract with King Uriens, and because Arturo's fiancée, Geneva, had expelled Guiamor, her lover, from the court.
During the search for the Holy Grail, everything points to Sir Lancelot's finding the magical object, but his love for the queen did not make him worthy of such a prize.
When he spent a night in the castle of Corbenic, where the King who guarded the Grail lived, the daughter of this king, Elaine, fell in love with Lanzarote, and through magic, he acquired the aspect of Geneva to lie with him. From this union would be born Galahad, one of the knights destined to find the Grail.
