The Chullachaqui (Peruvian jungle)
Its name comes from the native word “Chulla” (solo) and “Chaqui” (foot). The chullachaqui is a dwarf or a demon of the jungle that has the ability to transform into anyone he wishes in order to deceive visitors or inhabitants of the jungle.
The chullachaqui leads his victims down the wrong paths, going deep into the jungle, and then abandons them there, lost.
Some villagers in the jungle tell that the Chullachaqui kidnaps children to play with them, but others say that he kidnaps them to destroy and eat them.
It is also said that the chullachaqui can appear in a friendly way, presenting gifts and presents, but on other occasions it can appear aggressive. However, elderly people say that the chullachaqui orders not to overthrow or misuse the natural resources that are presented to us, that is why he is considered as "the guardian of the forest", and as a precaution, the chullachaqui can be identified for having a human foot and another deformed, similar to the leg of the goat.
