It's a Saturday morning and Mary and John's grandparents are spending
the day at their ranch outside the city. Mary and John love to go to their
grandparents' ranch because there is always something fun to do.
Grandpa picks up his grandchildren very early, and stops by a supermarket
to buy plenty of junk food, the type of food Mary and John's mom doesn't like
them to eat. They buy sandwiches, chips, candy, and different kinds of drinks,
enough for the road trip. On their way to the ranch, they eat their snacks, sing,
and tell riddles. Grandma is very good at riddles.
Once they get to the ranch they can smell the fresh air and hear the singing
of the birds everywhere. It's very peaceful.
Mary helps Grandpa water the trees that they planted together. They have
fruit trees like peaches, oranges, and lemons. The lemon tree is full of fruit. Mary
picks the lemons and gives them to Grandma. John helps feed the animals and
groom the horses. After that, he likes to go on a horseback ride.
Grandpa has a log cabin on the ranch. Sometimes they spend the whole
weekend there. The cabin is very cozy and has a fireplace that they light on the
cold days.
Grandma waits for them in the cabin and makes them a nice lunch, with
fresh lemonade made from the lemons Mary picked. After that, they watch the
sunset together and go back home before it gets dark.​
