we add -ed to the verb
jump - jumped
walk - waked
count - counted
dance - danced
belong - belonged

if the verb ends with e, we only put a d
die - died
arrive - arrived
believe - believed
change - changed
hope - hoped
like - liked

if the verb ends with an y, we normally change it with an i and then we put ed
study - studied
identify - identified
dry - dried

Finally, if the end of the verb (normally it happens with short verbs) is consonant vowel consonant we double the finally consonant
stop - stopped
beg - begged
