If a trapezoid is largest base is 12m and the smallest bad is 5 and the height is 10 what's the area

leilanymendez302: Subtract the parallelogram with bases of 10 and the same altitude. You will be left with a triangle base 5 and sides 3 and 4.

Sqrt(3^2 - x^2) = h

Sqrt(4^2 - [5 - x]^2) = h

= sqrt(16 - 25 + 10x - x^2)

= sqrt(-x^2 + 10x - 9)

Sqrt(9 - x^2) = sqrt(-x^2 + 10x - 9)

Square both sides

9 - x^2 = -x^2 + 10x - 9

10x = 18; x= 9/5

h = sqrt(9 - 81/25) = sqrt([225 - 81]/25)

h = sqrt(144/25) = 12/5 = 2.4

Height is equal to 2.4 units.

A = 2.4(10 + 15)/2 = 30 square units

The area of the trapezoid is 30 square units.
