resumen del libro Theseus and the minotaur
This tale tells the story of the young Theseus, son of the Aegean king of Athens, who had to face the evil minotaur of the labyrinth of Cnossos, located on the island of Crete. The story narrates the following:
The king of Athens was required to pay a tribute of fourteen youths, seven of each sex, annually to his Cretan counterpart. The young people were destined for the food of the Minotaur, a half-man, half-bull monster that lived in the labyrinth built by Daedalus, a highly skilled architect and sculptor, as well as Icarus's father. But it is not Daedalus I want to deal with, but Theseus, Ariadne and the Minotaur. Theseus, son of Aegean, king of Athens, volunteers to go to Crete as one of the fourteen youths for the annual tribute, with the declared intention of killing the Minotaur and freeing his homeland from the hateful tribute. Upon arriving in Crete, he falls in love with Princess Ariadne, daughter of King Minos, and she provides him with the means to kill the Minotaur, as well as a ball of thread with which to find his way back into the labyrinth. Theseus kills the Minotaur and returns victorious to Athens, taking Ariadne with him. The ship stops on the island of Naxos. Ariadna falls asleep on the beach, and that is the moment that Minerva chooses to order the hero to drop anchor and proceed without delay to Attica. Theseus fulfills the order, and Ariadna wakes up and is heartbroken seeing how the ship of her beloved is leaving. With few variations, the insignificance of which his story excuses, this is how this exciting story has been transmitted to us.
