Tom is waking up today at 10 o'clock. He is reading his newspaper in the kitchen. He is preparing breakfast at 11.30 and is calling his mother in Scotland.

In the afternoon, at 1.00, Tom is playing tennis with his sister then they are eating dinner in a restaurant. At 6:00, Tom is swimming for an hour and now he is going by bike to his brother's house. They are talking and listening to music. Tom is watching television in the evening and drinking a glass of warm milk. He is going to sleep at 11.30.

El presente progresivo es la forma que se usa en inglés para expresar una acción en curso o que está pasando ahora mismo.

Para convertir una oración simple a presente progresivo  se debe agregar el gerundio ing al final de cada verbo.

Ejemplo:

Sujeto + verb to be (am/is/are) + gerundio + complemento

I am working on my office. ⇒  Estoy trabajando en mi oficina.

Cuando la oración sea negativa solo se debe agregar la palabra NOT luego del verbo to-be.

Ejemplo:

Sujeto + verb to be + not + gerundio + complemento

I am not working on my office. ⇒ No estoy trabajando en mi oficina.

En el caso de IS o ARE se puede usar la contracción:

isn't

aren't

Ejemplo:

Sarah is not watching TV. ⇒ Sarah no está viendo TV.

Sarah isn't watching TV. ⇒ Sarah no está viendo TV.
