PASADO PERFECTO

Before the invention of the stethoscope, physicians simply placed their ear on their patients' chests to listen to the heartbeat and lungs of their patients. Most of the time, this method was sufficient, but there were times when it was not effective.

Many forms of anesthesia have been tried for centuries, but in 1846 a dentist named William TG Morton was the first to demonstrate the use of ether anesthesia for surgery. This event marked the invention of modern anesthesia, which allows painless treatment even during complex procedures.

PRESENTE PERFECTO

The age of antibiotics began with the synthesis of Salvarsan (now called Arsphenamine) by Alfred Bertheim and Paul Ehrlich in 1907. The drug was used as the first effective treatment for syphilis, marking the beginning of antibacterial treatment. In 1928, Alexander Fleming noticed the antibacterial effect caused by the Penicillium fungus (killing bacteria in a Petri dish), which ushered in penicillin. Antibiotics began to be used popularly only after 1945, when bulk production methods became available for the manufacture of penicillin.

Antibiotics revolutionized modern medicine, as they allowed the treatment and recovery of diseases that used to be fatal. Along with vaccination, antibiotics have facilitated the near eradication of epidemic diseases such as tuberculosis. It's hard to imagine our world without antibiotics. Today, the medical community is looking for resistant bacteria that have evolved due to the overuse of antibiotics.

5. Disposable catheter (invented in 1944)

Most medical innovations pioneer highly educated people, but in this case, the opposite happened. The disposable catheter was invented by David S. Sheridan, who only had an eighth grade education and was working in a floor repainting business at the time.
