GETTING TO KNOW... CARISSA MOORE
Introduction
Carissa Moore is 15 years old and she is a professional surfer.
She spends three hours a day practicing with her dad. She loves
the ocean, the sun, and the competition.
She was born in Honolulu in Hawaii, and she lives in Oahu with
her family. She could balance on a surfboard when she was two
years old, and she could surf and swim when she was four.
She holds a record of 11 National Scholastic Surfing Association
titles, and in 2007 she became the youngest elite tour
professional finalist in history.
Carissa wants to graduate from high school before she commits
her future to surfing. "I love surfing because it lets you travel all
over the world and see beautiful places," she says.​
