A FLORAL FEAST
The Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers is the most important floral event in Queensland, Australia. It takes
place every year in late September, and it lasts 10 days. Lots of people attend it so last year I decided to
go and see what it was all about.
The carnival began with a competition for the best garden in town. After that, there was a spectacular
street parade of convertible cars covered in flowers! then followed a procession of pipers, dressed in
traditional Scottish tartan kilts and groups of dancers, wearing bright costumes. Finally, there was the
Flower Queen Contest, in which people voted for the most beautiful girl of the day!
I enjoyed every second of this cheerful floral feast. I relaxed walking through the beautiful parks and
gardens. I was stunned by the street parade and I had a lot of fun voting for the queen in the contest. On
the whole, it was an amazing event.
