► QUESTION TAGS
Muy resumidamente, las question tags son pequeñas preguntas que se añaden al final de una oración cuando se busca un acuerdo o una confirmación del interlocutor.
Las question tags tienen la polaridad invertida respecto de la oración a la cual se añaden, o sea, si la oración es afirmativa (o positiva), la question tag es negativa, y si la oración es negativa, la question tag es afirmativa (o positiva).
Es decir:
• Affirmative statement + Negative question tag
• Negative statement + Affirmative question tag
La estructura de las question tags es fija.
➜ Si en la oración se usa una forma del verbo 'to be':
• Question tag = Verb to be + subject pronoun
➜ Si en la oración se usa un verbo distinto del verbo 'to be':
• Question tag = Auxiliary + subject pronoun
➜ El pronombre de la question tag es el mismo que se usa en el sujeto de la oración (o es el que reemplazaría al sustantivo o sintagma sustantivo usado en el sujeto).
➜ El verbo to be de la question tag debe estar en el tiempo verbal usado en la oración.
➜ Si en la oración se usa un verbo diferente de to be, el auxiliar de la question tag debe ser el que corresponde al tiempo verbal de ese verbo en la forma apropiada para el sujeto de la oración.
Excepciones:
• I am... ➙ Question tag: aren't I?
• Let's... ➙ Question tag: Shall we?
