There are many reasons for reasons for learning English. For example, to understand songs; students constantly ask teachers the meaning of lyrics, as they want to know what the writer or singer means. Also, not all books are translated, so at school and university, students have to read articles and books in English to become better professionals. What is more, there are many international industries and companies settled in non-English speaking countries which need bilingual employees, and most jobs these days require writing e-mails and speaking with foreigners. Other purposes for studying English is travelling abroad, visiting different places, meeting English speakers and experiencing other cultures. English is learnt all around the world, so sometimes it allows you to communicate with the locals easier. English is also the language of technology. Every day more and more new electronic goods and devices are invented, and their instruction manuals are normally written in English. Finally, perhaps the most popular reason for studying English is the Internet. Together with computers, it is part of our lives. Everything can be found in the net and almost every person has access to it. Professionals, workers, students, teenagers, housewives: everyone look up information, news, even song lyrics.
