RESUMEN
El autor trata, a lo largo y ancho de este escrito, de indagar en el siempre acuciante,
desconcertante, insidioso, dual –¿o tal vez no?– y persistente enigma del bien y del mal, a
partir de sus reflexiones y a la luz del análisis de las visiones que de tan esencial y, a la vez,
ancestral y actual problema, han propuesto algunos de los más ilustres pensadores de la
Historia –dividida para dicho estudio en cuatro edades: Filosofía Antigua, Edad Media, Edad
Moderna y Filosofía Contemporánea–. Las tesis emanadas por tan egregios compañeros de
viaje a través del tiempo oscilan así entre lo ingenuo, trágico, razonable, genial, religioso,
reiterativo, insulso, intrépido, categórico, excelso, desmesurado, subversivo, ilustrado y
extemporáneo.
Quede invitado el lector a participar en esta cardinal reflexión ética, extensible a todo ser
humano que se precie, sobre posibles causas, tipologías, interpretaciones y consecuencias de
la perseverancia de la cuestión del bien y el mal a lo largo de las épocas, al tiempo que se
escrutan potenciales respuestas/soluciones que permitan eliminar o, cuanto menos, mitigar
notablemente la influencia del mal, de manera que los individuos y las sociedades humanas
puedan evolucionar hacia un ansiado mundo mejor, más justo y perfeccionado.

ABSTRACT
The author tries, throughout the length and breadth of this writing, to investigate the
always pressing, disconcerting, insidious, dual –or maybe not?– and persistent enigma of good
and evil, from his reflections and the light radiating from the analysis of the visions that of so
essential and, at the same time, ancestral and current problem, have proposed some of the
most illustrious thinkers of History –divided for this study in four ages: Ancient Philosophy,
Middle Ages, Modern Age and Contemporary Philosophy–. The theses emanated by such
egregious travel companions through time oscillate between the naive, tragic, reasonable,
genial, religious, repetitive, insipid, intrepid, categorical, exalted, excessive, subversive,
enlightened and extemporaneous.
The reader is invited to participate in this cardinal ethical reflection, which can be extended
to every human being worth his salt, about possible causes, typologies, interpretations and
consequences of the perseverance of the question of good and evil throughout the ages, at
the same time that potential answers/solutions are screened to try to eliminate or, at least,
significantly mitigate the influence of evil, so that individuals and human societies can evolve
towards a desired world, better, more just and perfected.
