ELEVATOR CONFUSION

Mrs. Dupont went to En hiver, a large department store in Paris. She
went to meet her friend, Mrs. LeBlanc, for lunch. The restaurant at En
Hiver is on the top floor.
At the ground floor of the store Mrs. Dupont entered an elevator with
one schoolboy and three farmers’ wives. Before the elevator started,
a man got on his wife was with him; she was holding a young baby in
her arms. At the second floor, Women’s shoes; an English tourist and
three clerks got on; the wife gave the baby to her husband and got
off just before the elevator doors closed.
Chairs, tables, and other pieces of furniture are sold on the third floor.
A soldier and a policeman were waiting there for the elevator and got
on after two of the clerks got off. The English tourist tried to get off,
but the door closed too quickly.
The soldier and the man carrying the baby got off at men’s clothes on
the fourth floor. Only a tired nurse got on. The fifth floor was the last
stop before the restaurant. The schoolboy and all but one of the
farmers’ wives got off at the book department.
