This book takes place in the lives of the young literature student Anastasia Steele, a gorgeous young woman that goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. A man known by his success and reputation.

The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too but on his own terms. From this on, the story goes for pages demonstrating how this intimidating man approaches her in a dominant and classy way.

He, being successful and powerful, introduces her to his world and his family, places full with luxury, high society. Ana, though she is beautiful and secure, starts to shake with this new world she has never being into, bringing all her insecurities and nervousness to each scene.

The book is written from her point of view, which is why she is the main character to identify with.

Soon, Ana will know about Grey's past and she will be thrilled by Grey’s singular erotic tastes. This will make Ana hesitate, now she starts to understand a man that is more complicate that it seemed at the beginning.

For all the trappings of success, his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving family, Christian Grey is a man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a daring, passionately physical affair, Ana discovers Christian Grey’s secrets and explores her own dark desires.

This is a trilogy characterized by erotic, amusing, and deeply moving scenes, definitely a contemporary romance that would have been banned in previous years.
