Disco music first appeared during the 1960’s and 1970’s. Its name comes from the French word “discotheque”. This music genre was first ignored by radios but became popular in nightclubs because of its special rhythm which was composed by different musical traditions like soul, funk, and even salsa. Deejays were the creators of this particular music by mixing songs. The first disco hit was Gloria Gaynor’s “Never Can Say Goodbye” in 1974, other popular song which is even danced nowadays is YMCA by Village People. Some movies such as “Saturday Night Fever” with John Travolta represented the popularity of Disco music.

Opposite to what we may think that the disco ball appeared during those decades, it is known that those colorful balls were first used in 1897 and by 1920 it was patented and called “Myriad Reflector”.
