The symbol of PEACE A circle with four lines inside (☮), one at the top and three at the bottom in the shape of a bird's footprint, which had its most representative stage in the 1960s with culture and Hippie movement. It was created in 1958 by the British designer Gerald Holtom for the "British Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament", although later its meaning would be extended to the more general sense of "peace" with which it is interpreted today. Holtom was based on the letters (Nuclear Disarmament) according to the semaphore alphabet where N would be represented with both arms down (one on one side and the other on the other) and De with one vertical arm up and the other vertical down.
