Leonardo Wilhelm DiCaprio is the son of Irmelin DiCaprio, of German descent, and George DiCaprio, of Italian origin.
The latter worked as a comic book distributor.
From a very young age, and spurred on by his parents, Leonardo entered the world of acting as part of the avant-garde theater group "The Mud People".
In his adolescence he participated in commercials and in episodes of well-known television series, such as "Roseanne", "The Problems Grow" or "Santa Barbara".
