➤ REGULAR & IRREGULAR VERBS
➜ Los verbos regulares son aquellos cuyo pasado simple se forma añadiendo la terminación '-ed'/'-d' a la forma base o infinitivo del verbo.
Por ejemplo:
• answer (= responder) – answered
• ask (= preguntar) – asked
• help (= ayudar) – helped
• live (= vivir) – lived
• love (= amar) – loved
• move (= mover, mudarse) – moved
• save (= salvar, ahorrar) – saved
• walk (= caminar) – walked
• want (= querer) – wanted
• work (= trabajar) – worked
➜ Los verbos irregulares no siguen un patrón fijo. Hay que aprender la forma del pasado simple de memoria, o buscarla en algún diccionario o en la segunda columna de alguna tabla de verbos. Para estudiarlos resulta útil asociarlos según sus similitudes y aprenderlos agrupados.
Por ejemplo:
• begin (= empezar) – began
• drink (= beber) – drank
• ring (= sonar) – rang
• sink (= hundir) – sank
• sing (= cantar) – sang
• swim (= nadar) – swam
• drive (= conducir) – drove
• ride (= montar) – rode
• rise (= subir, elevarse) – rose
• write (= escribir) – wrote
• catch (= atrapar) – caught
• teach (= enseñar) – taught
• buy (= comprar) – bought
• bring (= traer) – brought
• fight (= pelear) – fought
• think (= pensar) – thought
• blow (= soplar) – blew
• grow (= crecer) – grew
• know (= saber) – knew
• fly (= volar) – flew
• bet (= apostar) – bet
• cost (= costar) – cost
• cut (= cortar) – cut
• hit (= golpear) – hit
• hurt (= lastimar) – hurt
• let (= dejar, permitir) – let
• put (= poner) – put
• shut (= cerrar) – shut
