A soap opera is like watching a TV show. The only things that are different is that the episodes air live every day Monday-Friday excluding the weekends and the show cancels after having a soap opera air on tv for many years. A TV series air episodes once a week (E.G. Every Sunday, Tuesday, Friday, etc.) and have many different genres. Comedy, Drama, Romance, Horror, etc. Soap Opera is a drama romance in the United States. A comedy in the UK and Australia. Some of the opening sequences in soap operas mostly only reveal characters but some soaps occasionally show the names of actors playing the characters (E.G. Young and the Restless). A TV show breaks down into a couple of seasons. Soap Operas have 1 long continuous season with 10,000+ episodes. Daytime shows like these air at times where people had to go to school or work. Primetime TV shows are times where people are done with school or work for the day. Like most TV shows, Soap operas also do commercial breaks. The stories never stop.
