1. Alan and Ben went to Paris, for spring break last year.
2. They left on a red-eye flight, and they arrived at the Paris airport in the late afternoon.
3. They took a cab to the hotel, so they could check in and freshen up.
4. The room was very small and charming, but didn’t have a bathroom.
5. The bathroom was down the hall, for all the guests on their floor to share.
6. The guys didn’t care, for they were excited about their trip.
7. They had a choice between going to a pizza place, or a sandwich shop for dinner.
8. Pizza sounded good, but they could have that at home anytime.
9. Lots of people were sitting outside the sandwich shop, so they decided to go there.
10. Alan didn’t know how to speak French, so Ben ordered their food.
11. He ordered two ham sandwiches with pickles, and two bottles of orange juice.
12. Ben was tired after dinner, but Alan wanted to explore the neighborhood.
13. Ben went back to the hotel, but was worried about Alan because Alan didn’t know any French.
14. It was getting late, so Ben went out to look for him.
15. Alan could get lost, or get into trouble in a big city like Paris.
16. Ben looked at every shop and restaurant on the block, yet he couldn’t find Alan.
17. Ben was about to give up, but he saw Alan sitting outside a café with a young lady.
18. She was practicing her English, and they were having a great conversation.
19. Ben tried to get Alan’s attention, but was unsuccessful.
20. Ben sighed, and went back to the hotel to go to bed.
