Today, it's hard to believe that people didn't use to travel from place to place by plane. They used to spend weeks travelling by ship or train. However, this changed in the 20th century thanks to Orville and Wilbur Wright, two American brothers. The Wright brothers built a plane, and on 17th December, 1903, they took it to a beach to try to fly it. While Orville took off, some men on the beach watched him. The plane didn't fly very high - three meters above the ground - before it landed. The brothers tried again. Finally, Wilbur flew the plane for a whole minute!
