Jesse Ownes and Lutz Long were in the log jump final in the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin. Jesse Owens had some problems at the start of the competition and everybody in stadium thought that Lutz Long was going to win. The Long went to talk to Owens. Their next two jumps were both good. It was a very exciting competition. Owen won the gold medal with his last jump. After this, Long and Owens became very good friends. Owens died in 1079.
