¿Cómo formular oraciones usando was / were?

El verbo to be funciona para unir el sujeto, que normalmente es una persona u cosa, con un atributo o adjetivo que describe al sujeto. Para formar oraciones debemos seguir la siguiente estructura:

En este caso las palabras was / were significan fue / fueron en español. Su uso dependerá del pronombre que se esté utilizando, por lo cual debemos identificar si el pronombre es singular o plural, de la siguiente manera:
